Trump Orders Airstrikes on ISIS in Somalia

In a decisive military operation, former President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he had ordered U.S. airstrikes targeting an ISIS hideout in Somalia. The strikes, carried out by U.S. Africa Command in coordination with the Somali government, resulted in the elimination of a senior ISIS attack planner and multiple operatives, according to defense officials.
“These killers, who thought hiding in caves would protect them, threatened the United States and our allies,” Trump stated on Truth Social. Reaffirming his administration’s aggressive stance on counterterrorism, he added, “We will find you, and we will kill you.”
The operation marks a continuation of U.S. military efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating in East Africa. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the strikes were precise and effective, ensuring that no civilian casualties were reported.
“These strikes send a clear message: If you plan terrorist attacks, your safe haven will not remain safe,” Hegseth remarked.
A Somali government official welcomed the airstrikes, emphasizing that Somalia must not become a sanctuary for terrorist organizations. The U.S. has maintained a long-standing counterterrorism presence in the region, conducting similar operations against militant groups in past years.
While ISIS and Al-Shabaab continue to pose a threat in Somalia, the latest strikes demonstrate an ongoing commitment to neutralizing such groups before they can carry out attacks. As tensions remain high in the global fight against terrorism, U.S. military operations like this one underscore the nation’s readiness to act decisively when necessary.
For now, the message is clear: those who seek to terrorize others will find no refuge.
